LEARN TO BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE NATURAL WORLD

Society and civilization has been overtaken by convenience and consumerism.
On Isla MuertoS we are gradually learning to live a sustainable lifestyle, working with nature to provide for our needs.

resources

Living offgrid we depend on natural resources which need to be managed carefully and creatively.
These are some of the technologies we are installing to sustain our activities:
* solar panels for power
* wells for drinking water
* rainwater harvesting
* gravity fed water distribution

biodiversity

The island was logged dramatically over 70 years ago after which it was pretty much abandoned.
This had positive effects:
*  development of rich topsoil
*  no ground pollution
*  balanced animal populations

It also had a negative impact:
*  predominance of American palms
*  soil erosion and dry hot zones
